On the way home from work today on NPR I heard something I just don't want to believe. They were doing a story about a court ruling today concerning Intelligent Design. I believe the commentator asked the learned guest who he thought would be fooled into thinking Intelligent Design was science or something to that effect. The guest answered, in a recent survey 53% of Americans were comfortable with the statement that the sun revolved around the earth and they had no idea the earth revolved around the sun once a year! That does it. I'm moving, I just don't know where!

Back from the Doc and I guess all is OK. She told me I could take 2400mg of Ibuprofen daily if needed, topped of with Vicoden. This news is a good thing as some days I could use more than the 1200 I have been taking. She wants me to come back for a chest Xray and a few other tests. She doesn't like the fact I've lost twelve pounds in the last year and I haven't been trying. What a hoot!

Off work tomorrow for a yearly visit to the Doctor. My battle with arthritis isn't going so well over the last year. The worst of it is in my lower back. The Doc thinks it's spinal stenosis. It gives me fits in my feet and legs. Fierce but short lived shooting pains and general aches. Oh them "Golden Years". At this rate, by the time I get there, I'll be looking at them from a wheelchair.

All this week the public radio station had in depth interviews with the candidates in our upcoming state elections. There wasn't a nickle's difference between them. They're all talking about how Virginia needs more revenue ( new taxes ) to improve transportation ( roads ). If you don't have anything better to do Google "Virginia Budget". What you'll find is a six hundred plus page document. Buried in there you'll find out why Virginia needs more money. Pay particular attention to the salaries of the politically appointed positions. All payback for the fund raisers. Let me ask a question. How, if back in the fifties when there were far fewer cars paying gas tax, the tax rate was lower, and there were fewer taxpayers, were we able to build the entire freeking Interstate Highway system and all those thousands of bridges they say they can't afford to repair now. It's government tomfoolery pure and simple

I've spent the best part of this evening sorting thru a pile of CD's and floppies. Yes I still have floppies. When I was moving, I just gathered up everything not knowing how much room I'd end up with to store all my treasures. Before I give up old NT4 server I've spent part of this evening installing it in a virtual machine, patching it up, and later I'll burn all the virtual machines to a DVD. You just never know when a copy of NT4 will come in handy!

Finally, the check went in the bank yesterday. I am officially homeless. At least the waiting game is over and I can go about settling in.

Well I received two phone calls from my Attorney today and it looks as though tomorrow is the day. I alerted the fellow who works with me that I might be taking Wednesday off. A bit of a celebration I guess. I've been here several times before so let's see if this is the real deal.

Terry's in bed with an aggravating neck/back pain. She's even been to the Doc about it. The Doc gave her a cortisone shot and some muscle relaxer. Last Thursday I got a call from the Realtor and the walk thru went OK. The closing is now set for next Tuesday, again.
